Has anyone read the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern vampire series by Charlaine Harris?

I like both the books and the show even though they are completely different than each other. It may be because they are completely different from each other that I like them so much. When movies or shows try to follow the book(s) that they are based off of, they always leave something out that I find important or a scene that I really wanted to see on the screen. I find both stories completely intriguing and will continue to follow both.
